Baptist Church, Ryde
From Wightpedia
The Baptist Church in Upper George Street Ryde, originally known as 'Christ Church', dates from 1862. The architects were Messrs. F. and J. Newman, and the contractor was Mr. Meader.[1]
Between 1870[2] and 1912, a splinter group of Baptists met at an iron-church on the north-east corner of Monkton Street and Park Road. Later that chapel burnt down and a block of flats now stands on the site.
