On 19th November 1947, a B.O.A.C Hythe class[1] Flying-Boat, flying from Hythe to Poole in thick fog crashed into Brighstone Down, Isle of Wight. There were just the crew of four on board; one was killed instantly, two were seriously injured and the remain one suffered less serious injuries.[2]
