Church of St Michael and All Angels, Ryde

The Church of St Michael and All Angels at Swanmore, Ryde was built over the period 1857 to 1863. It replaced an iron church which had previously been used by the locals; once it was surplus, the iron church was moved to Wroxall where it was used as a church and school.
The Grade II* listed church[1] was to the design of the Rev. Mr. Grey, of Milford, Surrey, all the internal decorations and superintendence of the building was entrusted to Richard James Jones, Esq., Architect, of Ryde while Mr. Thomas Dashwood, of Ryde, was the general contractor.[2] A small National School was erected at the same time.
