Edward the eighth pillar-box, Sandown

On the corner of Melville Street and Royal Crescent, Sandown, Isle of Wight stands a pillar-box with the monogram of King Edward the Eighth.
Edward the Eighth only reigned for 325 days before abdicating on 10 December 1936 yet he left his mark on the island. This pillar-box in Sandown, another one in Green Lane, Shanklin (below), and two Telephone Exchanges, Newport and Shanklin with 'ERVIII' above the main doorways.
