God's Providence House
From Wightpedia
God's Providence House at the south east corner of St Thomas' Square is supposedly so named because during an outbreak of plague in 1583/84, this was the one house in the town in which no-one died.
In 1701, the house had to be partially rebuilt after a fire, however it is still one of the oldest buildings in Newport.
Today (2019) it is open as tea rooms and restaurant.
