Holy Trinity Church, Ventnor
From Wightpedia
The Grade II* Listed[1], Holy Trinity Church, Ventnor was designed by Charles Edmund Giles, architect of 52 Westbourne Park-road, Bayswater, London. The contractor was Mr James Bull, although he filed for bankruptcy during construction of the church[2].
The church was designed to accommodate 567 worshippers, in open benches and chairs, of which 210 were reserved 'free for the use of the poor for ever'. The height from the floor of the nave to the top of the weathercock was 155 feet.[2]
The church was consecrated in August 1862[2].
