Niton Avro Anson crash - January 1940

On 6 January 1940, an RAF Avro Anson, with a crew of four was on maritime patrol when it crashed into St. Catherine's Down.
The RAF Avro Anson from RAF Thorney Island was performing low level maritime patrol along the south coast of England, when in foggy conditions it crashes in a field near The Hermitage on St. Catherine's Down. Of the four crew, three were killed and the survivor was seriously injured.[1]
