Policeman's Post Office step-up
Along Post Office Lane in Newport, under a window in the side of the old Post Office can be seen a cut-away in the brickwork.
In years long gone, this was used, together with the hand holds under the window and on the window frame, by Policemen walking their beat around Newport so they could pull themselves up to look through the window into the Post Office to check that all was well and it wasn't being robbed.
