Newtown Salt Pans (1810/11)
Saltworks existed around Newtown Creek , Isle of Wight, from Norman times - in the 17th century there were 7 saltworks in operation.
By the time production ceased in about 1880, there were only 3 remaining.
The saltpans were subsequently used as a basis for the oyster beds.
