Upper Almshouses, Newport

The Upper Almshouses in the High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight are supposed to have been established about 1650 by Stephen Marsh, a mayor of Newport.
The house were rebuilt in 1875 and two foundation stones were laid on Whit Tuesday, one either side of the main door way.
There were designed to be occupied by four people in single room accommodation and are administered by The Upper Almshouses charity.
