Ventnor DC3 crash - May 1962

On 6th May 1962 while on a flight from Jersey to Portsmouth, the Channel Airways DC3 encountered poor weather conditions when it approached the Isle of Wight. As the pilot reduced height in preparation for landing at Portsmouth, the aircraft struck St. Boniface Down.
Of the 14 passengers and 3 crew on board, 10 were killed at the scene and a further 2 succumbed subsequently to their injuries.[1]
